Tony McKenzie has a number of guitars that he uses regularly when playing live and in the studio and
these fine instruments are featured on the menu on the left. Just choose an instrument to
find out more about it and to see a stunning shot from the Big Dan Studio live room. These
pictures take some short time to load but they are high quality and worth the wait....
Some of Tony's instruments were
purchased for just a few hundred dollars while other examples cost him many thousands of
dollars - some have superb figured tops and others are just plain old paint! - one thing's
for sure though, each and every instrument featured here has it's own inimitable voicing
and this is the reason that the instrument was added to Tony's collection in the first
place.
To hear some of these guitars in
action visit our Real Audio pages on this site from the main menu - we are sure that you
will agree that Tony does have some very cool sounds indeed. Each instrument has a
descriptive text and tells of the tracks that it was used on in recent times.
We hope that you enjoy looking at
the photo's (c) Tony McKenzie 2002/3/4/5 and welcome your comments anytime......
Here's a shot of Tony's (old) Live Amplifier
Rig, note the rack AND the boogie Mk IV - this was used to "switch" to
from the ground control for other sounds from the main amp, and if you look
close to the centre of the rack you will see the cables running off to the PA in
stereo from the rack.... a cool setup if ever there was one, and it sounds
great with the guitars on the left used through it. The Marshall has changed now
to a Boogie 2:90. The live kit has now changed dramatically since these photos
in 2005.

Notice that Tony only uses 2 x 1x12 cabs for the live rig,
these are 250 watt speakers but also remember that he's also going full tilt
through the PA - this gives a sound just like the CD - clean, crystal, and
definitely a sound that is not often achieved live.

The Ground Control from the pilot's view.....
I admit it doesn't look much.... but you would be amazed...
Here's a new
shot of current Kit....

And here's another....
